I cannot express how this wedding made me feel. Just when you need a push of good energy, you meet this couple, and their family. We have worked for Chris’ family before so we knew we would have a great day, but getting to know Kaelin’s family was the icing on the cake (pun intended).
On Friday, I shot on over to the bride’s parent’s house to film the decorating of a cake that for some was unable to be made by the bakeries. Kailin’s sister and mother decided that they would bake and decorate the cake themselves. It was just amazing getting to know Kaelin’s dad, mom, sister and brothers that day. Her sister’s husband, Greg had one cool beard too (just in case you were wondering). So we shot that on Friday and then the fun of knowing these people so well began on Saturday. Walking in to the house I felt right at home and that always helps when shooting something so personal.
I don’t really have to say much about this SDE. I mean, it was easy. We just worked from the heart. We care about these people. They care about us. And that is what came across in the film. I’m not even a “dog person” and I love their dog “Odie” like he’s my own!
When it comes to telling a story, my whole philosophy is quickly changing. It is not just about having cool equipment (although it does help), it is about feeling it. Feel the story and you will do great things. Enjoy…

On our 2nd Same Day Edit in 2 days we were tired from the day before, but Saturday May 14, 2011 we we got a jolt of excitement knowing that we were working for Joanne and Michael. This is a good story.
Joanne had moved out to Las Vegas to live with her friend and work at the Bellagio. She handled all kinds of events while working there. So when faced with a particular event, she had to get a few things for it at Walmart. While standing on line in the store the two met with a short conversation and the Joanne left. Michael actually left his stuff at the counter to chase after her, but she was gone. Having mentioned that she worked at the Bellagio, Michael called 3 different times for find her and finally did. From then on, they have been together. That is beautiful.
Now, Michael was given a great gift on the wedding day (if you’re a devils fan…and no, I will not capitalize the devils) and it literally took all my strength to put my love and passion for the New York Rangers aside and use the footage in their SDE. It is not my fault that this red and black sweater made it onto this blog…I heart the Blueshirts. Most anyone who knows me understands that hockey is the only sport I care about and Michael knows too so he can take the razzing! All kidding aside, Michael is a big hockey fan as well and I really was excited to see his reaction to his gift.
Michael also gave Joanne a beautiful necklace and a really comfy sweat-suit for their flight to Italy! I hope their 16 day stay on their honeymoon is amazing!
Here is their Same Day Edit! Enjoy…
