.editing..what’s up.

Photo editing, such a huge part of my life. What you see here on the blog has generally gone through a preliminary edit, but is not always what the couple get back. I like to try and get a preview out to people so they can start getting excited for the finished product. But here’s a few examples of what was and now is. And side note, this isn’t how all finished pictures end up looking, just for these pictures and this couple, this is what I saw. There will be more educational business on editing coming up soon!!

.paul and monica..if the sun refused to shine.

The band Led Zeppelin has an amazing song called “Thank You” that said “If the sun refused to shine, i would still be loving you” Well, Paul and Monica have that sort of love. A bit before the ceremony the rain came out to play, but they continued on, sure that it would all work out. And sure enough the rain stopped, a lot of the ominousness cleared away, and we were treated to a wonderful ceremony, with a great surprise ending (see first kiss shot) It was a great day. We are busy as bees here at Endless Wave, and i’m playing catch up with editing, but the blog posts will keep coming!

.marissa and alex..a walk in their shoes..sde.

There are many people in the wedding industry that I have a strong respect for. We get to work with these professionals so often that we become friends with them. Marissa Levin from Heyn Photography is one of those people. She is a true professional with talent that is not quite surpassed by her love for shoes, though shoes are a close second to cameras in her love for inanimate objects. She has become a friend to Endless Wave, along with the rest of the Heyn team, and now it was her turn to get married.

When Marissa and Alex approached us, we were naturally very excited, and also humbled that they asked us to film the wedding. Coming up to this wedding, we were able to shoot their Engagement Film, and then the wedding shortly after. The engagement film that we shot is the first of it’s kind from Endless Wave, and let’s just say that without this couple, it wouldn’t have worked. Check out the engagement film below.

On the wedding day (8/28/10) we were able to do their SDE (same day edit). The plan was to approach the SDE with a very open mind. We planned to simply find the story for most of it, instead of having every single detail nailed down before getting there. Usually you just hope things happen in the way you envision it the week before the wedding, but this time I wanted to see if we could do a little improv. Luckily, we did find an amazing story in all the mayhem of a wedding day, and it turned out like this:

.tom and leah..explosive wedding.

Explosive can be a scary term, especially in conjunction with weddings. But for Tom and Leah, it was explosive in so many good ways. First, they share an explosive love for each other that was evident throughout the day. Once the dancing and partying got started at the reception, to say it was explosive would be an understatement. I’m not sure if I have seen a wedding party quite like it to this point. There are a picture or two below, but they hardly do it justice. And finally the night finished with some more literal explosions in the sky, as it was the 4th of july! A great day, enjoy!

.lynn and sebastien..a real french kiss.

Here we are about one week from this wedding, and Lynn and Sebastien’s photographer decides he is not coming to the wedding. This was very scary for Lynn. The good news is that there was a hero who was about to emerge. Having known the following that John Arcara has for years, I knew that my first time actually working with him would be amazing…and it was!

John is an amazing photographer, and truly a great guy. You can see his work at johnarcara.com. It was a huge blessing that John came through for them in such short notice, and it was a class act. Oh, the pics are amazing!

Okay, so back to the couple…

The day started out fairly low key at the Sheraton in Eatontown, NJ and picked up it’s pace as we moved to the Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury, NJ. The rain came and stopped, then some more, then stopped, and even through all of that, this couple said there was no way we are going inside! So we had the ceremony outside. With umbrellas in hand and ready to go, the couple got married with little rainfall and lots of happy friends and family all around them.

Sebastien’s family even traveled from France to be there. It was an awesome event!

Ryan and I edited a same day edit and showed it to over one hundred excited guests. The reaction was great, and it left me in chills to see the happiness it brought to them.

With a romantic french kiss, this couple sealed their bond, and started their journey as one. Here is the SDE. Enjoy!

..Greg
